USB desk reader has been designed to work with most modern PC.
The IC (Mifare reader) uses simple read write technology
When applying a mifare device, the reader will look for the serial no. sector and transmit onto most applications, excel, word, notepad
If you feel the device is faulty then -
1. plug into pc and make sure light comes on
if no light unit is faulty or no power on USB port
2. open up notepad
2. click inside the notepad window
3. show a mifare device to the pad (this can be fob, card or even a credit card
4. the pad should beep
if no beep then the USB card reader is not working
5. the notepad should be displaying numbers
if yes the device is working - check the card / fob
6. IF letters and numbers then the USB needs updating
7. click on link http://downloads.orcomm.co.uk/#Downloads%2FFirmware%2FAccess%20Control%2FORC-MPROG
8. extract program and instructions
9. start Demo.exe
10. follow options on instructions and click SEND
11. Success
now the USB should show numbers
